Contest Rules




  1. Eligibility

    Win A Music Ministry Makeover (the “Contest”) is only open to Catholic Parishes and Campus Ministries of the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia. Any music leader, whether they are volunteer or employee, may apply on the behalf of their parish or Campus Ministry, as long as they are at least eighteen (18) years old at the time of entry.

Youth Participation and Discipleship: The applying music group should not be youth led. However, we are looking for bands that include youth (ages 18 or younger). For this reason, entries must include at least one youth age 18 or younger.

This contest is void where prohibited by law. The Contest is only open to those who enter online at http://www.davidinitiative.com/apply/ , and who are Catholic parish or campus ministry music ministers, as determined by his or her parish or campus ministry office. Entries that are submitted but are unable to be verified will be disqualified.  Parish/campus music ministers must obtain the necessary photo, press, and legal releases for any minors present in the video to be made available upon request, though they do not need to be included in the original contest submission. The parishes to which belong the employees of Crossroads Productions, Inc. and all other companies associated with the promotion of the contest are ineligible to apply.

  1. Sponsor

    The Contest is sponsored by the David Initiative, a ministry of Crossroads Productions, Inc. (the “Sponsor”), located at PO Box 226654 Dallas, Tx. 75222-6654, United States of America.

  2. Agreement to Official Rules

    Participation in the Contest constitutes entrant’s full and unconditional acceptance of these Official Rules and the decisions of the Sponsor as it relates to the Contest, which are final and binding.

  3. Contest Period

    The Contest begins on October 17, 2016 at 5:00pm CDT and ends on February 13th, 2017 at 5:00pm CDT (the “Contest Period”).  Online submissions will be accepted for the duration of the Contest period only. Competition deadlines are subject to be extended by the sole discretion of the Sponsor.

  4. How to Enter

    All entries must use the online form provided at http://www.davidinitiative.com/apply/ and follow the directions provided. Entries that are incomplete or do not adhere to the contest rules or entry form specifications may be disqualified at the sole discretion of the Sponsor.

    Limit one (1) entry per Catholic parish or campus ministry for the duration of the Contest Period.  All entries become the property of Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned.

    Entries must be a live performance video of an original song, psalm, or reworked traditional Catholic hymn. Copyright laws prohibit the use of covers of songs that are not creative commons or purchased. Find out more here and here. The use of covers of songs (whether purchased or creative commons) are prohibited in the Contest, as it would inhibit the integrity of the Contest.

  5. Prize Drawing

    In February, 2017, the Sponsor will select potential winners based on a combination of merit (judge selection) and popularity (a pole on our website). The Sponsor will attempt to notify the potential winner via email at the end of February, 2017. If the potential winner cannot be contacted within five (5) days after the date of the first attempt, the Sponsor may select an alternate winner.

  6. Winner Notification

    Winners will be notified by email. Each prize winner will be required to complete, electronically sign and submit a Declaration of Compliance and Release within five (5) days of the date notice or attempted notice is sent, in order to claim the prize. If a winner cannot be contacted or fails to submit the Declaration of Compliance within the required time period (if applicable), or prize is returned as undeliverable, potential winner forfeits prize.

    The Sponsor shall have no liability for Winner’s failure to receive notices due to spam, junk email or other security setting or for Winner’s provision of incorrect or otherwise non-functioning contact information. Potential winners must continue to comply with all terms and conditions of these Official Rules, and winning is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements.

    In the event that a potential winner is disqualified for any reason, Sponsor will award the applicable prize to an alternate winner from among remaining eligible entries. Only three (3) alternate selections will take place, after which the prize will remain un-awarded. Prizes will be fulfilled approximately 8-10 weeks after the conclusion of the Contest. Receipt by Winner of the prize offered in this Contest is conditioned upon compliance with any and all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.


  7. Prizes

    The Grand Prize Winner of the Contest (the “Winner”) will receive all of the essential instruments needed to launch a parish music program (as specified below), a free day session of recording with Shawn Williams of Paper Castle Records (Air fare and accommodations not included), and a music video/ documentary shot by 4PM Media which will document the parish music group’s experience with The David Initiative.   The Grand Prize Winner, along with the first and second runner up, will receive one year of monthly mentorship from some of the most experienced music ministers in the US. If the winning music ministry leader should leave the parish or campus ministry where they had been leading worship, we reserve the right to terminate any ongoing mentoring.

    All prizes are subject to substitution and we reserve the right to substitute models and colors of equipment based on availability at time of shipment.

    Actual/appraised value of prizes may differ at time of prize award. The specifics of the prize shall be solely determined by the Sponsor. No cash or other prize substitution shall be permitted except at the Sponsor’s discretion. All prizes are nontransferable. Any and all prize-related expenses, including without limitation any and all federal, state, and/or local taxes, shall be the sole responsibility of Winner. No substitution of prize or transfer/assignment of prize to others or request for the cash equivalent by Winner is permitted. Acceptance of prize constitutes permission for Sponsor to use the winner’s name, likeness, and entry for purposes of advertising and trade without further compensation, unless prohibited by law.


  1. Rights Granted by Entrant

    By entering this contest, you understand and agree that the Sponsor, anyone acting on behalf of the Sponsor, and the Sponsor’s licensees, successors, and assigns, shall have the right, where permitted by law, to print, publish, broadcast, distribute, and use in any media now known or hereafter developed, in perpetuity and throughout the World, without limitation, your entry and the names, portraits, pictures, voices, likenesses, images, statements about the Contest and biographical information of you, your parish or campus ministry and all members of the winning music ministry for news, publicity, information, trade, advertising, public relations, and promotional purposes, without any further compensation, notice, review, or consent.

    By entering this contest, you warrant that your entry is an original work of authorship and does not violate any third party’s proprietary or intellectual property rights. If your entry infringes upon the intellectual property right of another, You will be disqualified at the sole discretion of the Sponsor. If the content of your entry is claimed to constitute infringement of any proprietary or intellectual proprietary rights of any third party, you shall, at your sole expense, defend or settle against such claims. You shall indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Sponsor from and against any suit, proceeding, claims, liability, loss, damage, costs or expense, which the Sponsor may incur, suffer, or be required to pay arising out of such infringement or suspected infringement of any third party’s right.

  2. General Conditions

    In the event that the operation, security, or administration of the Contest is impaired or corrupted in any way for any reason, including, but not limited to fraud, virus, bug, worm, unauthorized human intervention, technical problem, other cause beyond the Sponsor’s control, or in the event the Contest is unable to run as planned for any other reason, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion, the Sponsor may, in its sole discretion, either
    (a) suspend or modify the Contest to address the impairment and then resume the Contest in a manner that best conforms to the spirit of these Official Rules or
    (b) terminate the Contest and, in the event of termination, award the prize to eligible, non-suspect entries received up to the time of the impairment.

    The Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual it may find attempting to tamper with the entry process or the operation of the Contest or to be acting in violation of these Official Rules or in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner.  The Sponsor has the right, in its sole discretion, to maintain the integrity of the Contest, to void votes for any reason, including, but not limited to:
    - multiple entries from the same user from different IP addresses;
    - multiple entries from the same computer in excess of that allowed by Contest rules; or the use of bots, macros, scripts, or other technical means for entering.

    Any attempt by any person to damage the website or undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest may be in violation of criminal and civil law, and, should such an attempt be made, the Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages (including attorney’s fees) and any other remedies from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. Failure by the Sponsor to enforce any provision of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.

  3. Release and Limitations of Liability

    By participating in the Contest, entrants agree to release and hold harmless the Sponsor, and any other companies associated with the Contest, and each of their respective officers, directors, employees, shareholders, representatives, partners, successors, assigns, and agents (the “Released Parties”) from and against any claim or cause of action arising out of participation in the contest or receipt or use of the prize (including any travel or activity related thereto), including, but not limited to:
    (a) any technical errors associated with the Contest, including lost, interrupted or unavailable Internet Service Provider (ISP), network, server, wireless service provider, or other connections, availability or accessibility or miscommunications or failed computer, satellite, telephone, cellular tower or cable transmissions or computer hardware or software malfunctions, failures or difficulties;
    (b) unauthorized human intervention in the Contest;
    (c) mechanical, network, electronic, computer, human, hardware, software, cable, printing, typographical errors, or other mechanical equipment;
    (d) application downloads,
    (e) any other errors or problems in connection with the Contest, including, without limitation, errors that may occur in the administration of the Contest, the announcement of the winner, the cancellation or postponement of the event and/or the flyover, if applicable, the incorrect downloading of the application, the processing of entries application downloads or in any Contest-related materials; or
    (f) injury, death, illness, litigation, claim, liability losses or damages of any kind, to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from entrant’s participation in the Contest or acceptance, receipt or misuse of the prize (including any travel or activity related thereto) or any portion thereof.

    Entrant further agrees that in any cause of action, the Released Parties liability will be limited to the cost of entering and participating in the Contest, and in no event shall the entrant be entitled to receive attorney’s fees. Release Parties are also not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by site users, tampering, hacking, or by any equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest. Entrant waives the right to claim any damages whatsoever, including, but not limited to, punitive, consequential, direct, or indirect damages.


  4. Disputes

    THIS Contest IS GOVERNED BY THE LAWS OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AND TEXAS, WITHOUT RESPECT TO CONFLICT OF LAW DOCTRINES. Except where prohibited, each entrant agrees that any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of, or connected with, the Contest or any prize awarded shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by the appropriate court located in Texas having jurisdiction. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation, and enforceability of these Official Rules, entrant’s rights and obligations, or the rights and obligations of the Sponsor in connection with the Contest, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of Texas, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules, which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than Texas. Further, in any such dispute, under no circumstances shall participant be permitted to obtain awards for, and hereby waives all rights to, punitive, incidental, or consequential damages, including reasonable attorney’s fees, other than participant’s actual out-of-pocket expenses (i.e. costs associated with entering this Contest). Participant further waives all rights to have damages multiplied or increased.

  6. Winners List

    To obtain a copy of the Winner’s name(s) or a copy of these Official Rules, email your request to hello@davidinitiative.com. Requests must be received no later than February 20, 2017 at 5:00pm CDT.

  7. Consent

    By checking the box in the application form  provided on the application form which states, "I have read and agree to the Terms + Conditions," You, the Contestant, have affirmatively reviewed, accepted, and agreed to all of the Official Rules.
