The David Initiative is a collaboration between The Gretch Company, The Crossroads Initiative, and Catholic Creatives in an effort to foster a more powerful encounter with the Catholic Mass through the development of liturgical music in parish and campus music ministries.

What is the contest win a music ministry makeover?

The David Initiative's first project is a national competition to equip Catholic parish and campus music ministers with the mentorship and resources they need to set up and/or enhance music discipleship programs at their parish/campus.

How do you enter the competition?

Fill out our application form and send us a live performance video of your parish music ministry playing a song you would play at mass.

Maximum length of video: 5 minutes

How do you win?

Winner and finalists will be determined on the basis of merit (judge selection) and popularity (votes and likes).

Am I eligible to enter?

Eligibility Requirements:
All participants must be current and Catholic parish or campus music ministers in the United States (volunteer or employed).

Must be at least 18 years old at the time of entry.

Youth Participation and Discipleship: The applying music group should not be youth led. However, we are looking for bands that include youth (ages 18 or younger).
For this reason, entries must include at least one active youth member age 18 or younger.

Release Forms: Parish/campus music ministers must obtain the necessary photo + press + legal release forms for the minors present in the video.
These do not have to be sent to The David Initiative, but must be available upon request.

Limit ONE entry per Catholic parish or campus ministry.

What are the prizes?

The Grand Prize Winner will receive essential instruments and gear to assist in launching a parish music program.

The top three finalists will receive one year of monthly mentorship from some of the most experienced music ministers in the United States.

The Grand Prize Winner will be given a day session of recording with Shawn Williams at Paper Castle Records.

4PM Media, the film company behind The Vigil Project, will follow The Grand Prize Winner through their year experience with The David Initiative and document their journey on video.

All prizes are subject to substitution and we reserve the right to substitute models and colors of equipment based on availability at time of shipment.

If I win, how do I receive my prize?

Winners will be contacted by The David Initiative via email after February 1, 2016.

If the winner does not respond within five days, the potential winner forfeits the prize(s), to the discretion of The David Initiative, and the prize(s) will be awarded to another potential finalist.

We make these visible for your benefit: the more Facebook votes/likes you get, the more likely you could win.

We will NOT share your:
Entry Answers, including: how long have you been employed as a youth minister, what is your vision for discipling young musicians, what is your vision for your music program, how can the prizes help you accomplish your vision.

Entry answers will only be viewed by judges, mentors, and leadership of The David Initiative.
